Pops Concert

My oldest granddaughter invited me to her Middle School Pops Concert tonight. Their program was titled "Traveling The Decades", which I knew would include some golden oldies music. I wasn't disappointed. They had songs like "Locomotion" from the 60's up to "Home" by Michael Buble from today. The Swing Choir sang "Turn the Beat Around" by Gloria Estefan. They have some very talented kids in Middle School and I always enjoy their concerts.

"I have my own particular sorrows, loves, delights; and you have yours. But sorrows, gladness, yearning, hope, love, belong to all of us, in all times and in all places. Music is the only means whereby we feel these emotions in their universality." -H.A. Overstreet

Payday Loans

It is no fun living from paycheck to paycheck, but I, for one, am very glad to have that paycheck in today's economy. It certainly seems harder to make the paycheck stretch and sometimes payday can't come soon enough. Keeping up with expenses is difficult enough, but if something unexpected comes along like a medical emergency or car repairs, where can you turn for some quick cash? A payday loan might be just the answer you are looking for. Payday Loans are available online and applying couldn't be easier. They don't even require a credit check. The application process takes very little time and before you know it you will have the cash you need.

Ear Infection

My daughter called me twice tonight because she was worried about my 4 mos. old granddaughter. She had been crying most of the afternoon and that is very unlike her. She is one of the most content babies I have ever seen. I suggested things like teething, though she's a little young, and possible ear infection, but she didn't have a fever. They were on their way to acute care when I received the second call. My daughter said she felt kind of silly going to acute care just for a baby crying. I told her it never hurts to find out what's going on even if it's nothing. At least you then have peace of mind. I remember well, those days of being a young mother and questioning what was the right thing to do. Anyway, it turned out that she does have an ear infection. I'm very glad they took her so she can get the medicine she needs to get well. They may be in for a long night.

Season Finales

This is the time of year for all those season finales and "cliffhangers". I find, this year, that my viewing habits have been leaning more towards the reality shows than regular dramas or sitcoms. I have been an avid viewer of "Lost", however. Their season finale kept me on the edge of my seat and I am once again looking forward to next season. I hear it will be the last season and, even though, it has not been the easiest story to follow, I will miss it when it's over. At least, it has been unlike anything else on TV! "Survivor" had it's 3 hr. finale tonight. J.T. was the million dollar winner and I think he deserved it. This week we will see who is our next "American Idol" and which team will win the "Amazing Race". I believe "Dancing With The Stars" has their finale this week, also, though I do not watch it regularly. Good thing all these shows are ending so I can get something else done!

Farrah's Story

Tonight I watched "Farrah's Story" on NBC. She really is quite a woman and her story affected me much more than I anticipated. It was basicly a documentary of her last couple of years with her fight against incurable cancer. How awful to have this disease and then have it compounded by the media and the lies and misinformation that they are willing to print. I find her to be very courageous to let her battle be filmed, even when she is in bed and sick from her chemo. She has her family and close friends around her for comfort and support and my heart goes out to all of them.

Rustic Furniture

If I could afford it, I would love to own a cabin in the woods somewhere. It's always fun to imagine how I would furnish my "fantasy cabin". The furnishings would have to be rustic to match the woodsy outdoors. I envision comfortable chairs and a sofa made of bleached logs, with a sturdy, but somewhat feminine material for the upholstery. I would want my rustic furniture to bring nature into my room and give it a laid-back comfortable feeling. No room for the stress of the world in my cabin!

American Idol Shocker

How many American Idol fans were in shock last night with the outcome of America's vote? I was surprised but can't say I was shocked. I think there is so much talent in the "Top 3" that anyone of them could be this year's American Idol. I know there were many who were very sad that Danny did not make it to the final 2 but you know he has a fantastic career ahead of him anyway. I have been a great fan of Kris's for quite a few weeks but have to admit that Adam possesses the showmanship. It all boils down to what your taste in music might be.

Summer Celebration

My hometown will be celebrating it's Quasquicentennial this summer. They are planning a 4 day celebration over the 4th of July weekend. I will be able to attend the events on the weekend but may not get any extra time off work (I have 3 1/2 hrs. travel time) for a concert I would like to attend on Friday night. An acapella group by the name of "Tonic Sol Fa" is performing. I have seen them several times and really enjoy them. On Saturday morning they are having a parade that we will have to see. My 3 yr. old granddaughter loves parades. Hope many people are able to come back home for this celebration.

Saturday

What a great Saturday! We had lots of sunshine and temperatures were warm enough to be outside with only a sweatshirt. My yard was calling me, but going to my granddaughter's volleyball tournament was more important and fun. She is in 4th grade and we are very fortunate to have a volleyball program for girls her age. We traveled about 45 miles for the games and spent the afternoon cheering her on. Afterwards we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for supper.
