Birthday Weekend

Saturday was a great day to spend with my family celebrating my birthday. Yes, another year older, a few more wrinkles, and some aches and pains that I never had before, but you seem to forget about all that stuff when you are with the people you love the most. We had great weather and spent time outside with the kids chalking up the driveway, dancing to 50's & 60's music (my kids indulge me occasionally), and I had a little wine. My son and son-in-law grilled salmon and walleye for supper and then we all played Mexican Train Dominoes. These are the days to cherish and remember.

Ugh! Income Tax

Yay!!! I finally took the time to do my income tax. I don't know why I stress over it so much every year. Once I sit down and do it, it is not all that difficult. We have state income tax in my state and that is the one I dread doing the most. I do both state and federal myself and I do them by hand (the old fashioned way). Yeah, I know, but I'm an old fashioned kind of girl. I don't get much of a refund from federal, but it is better than paying in. I always have to pay a small amount in to state. Anyway, now I can breathe a sigh of relief until next year.

Signs Of Spring

Whew! This week has gone by so fast. It seems like I just got back from my daughter's a day or so ago and it's already been a week. The weather has finally warmed up a bit and we have had wonderful sunshine. Nice weather makes time fly, I guess. Besides the warmer temperatures, I have noticed other signs of spring. Yesterday, I watched out my window as several squirrels were playing in a large old tree across the street. They were chasing each other up and down and around and around the tree. Just when you thought one of them would catch the other he would take off at lightening speed and the chase would start all over again. I, also
saw my first robin of the year. I was invited to my son's home for steaks on the grill. We were watching a cat chase the birds and some of them were robins. The cat did not catch any of them, but he gave it a good try. I would hate to live anywhere that you couldn't experience spring. It is such a reawakening of everything, especially after a long winter like the one we have had. It really boosts my spirits!

Baby Fix

I took a few days off of work last week and made the trip to visit my daughter and her family. Baby granddaughter is now 7 weeks old and I needed that new baby fix. She is doing very well. Little mixed up on her days and nights, and she does have a fussy time of day but all in all a very good baby. Her big sister is a handfull but also very fun. She is not the quiet, sit and read a book, and cuddle type girl. She is a mover and a doer. Grandma got very tired.... We worked on the potty training but she is a very strong willed child. I think one day she will just make up her mind to go in the potty chair and that will be it, but it will be when she wants to and not because anyone else wants her to. My daughter has to return to work in a couple of weeks and I know that will be very hard for all of them. Hope I can make a return visit very soon.
