Scare in the Night

My daughter called the other day. They had been awakened in the night by a very loud boom. She said the closet doors in the bedroom even shook. She is a light sleeper, anyway, but she said even her husband knew something had happened close to their house. He looked out the windows but could not see anything. In a few minutes, they heard sirens coming closer and closer. Then, to the west, they could see a huge cloud of black smoke with a red glow. This was about 4:30 AM. She said later in the morning they walked two blocks to the west of their home and there was tape closing off the street. A house had literally blown up and damaged the house next to it very severely. Luckily, both families who lived in the houses were gone on vacation. She said they heard that it was caused by a gas leak. What a scary thing to have happen in an unsuspecting neighborhood.
